Looking for animal friendly travel agency to help plan your trip of a lifetime here in Australia or overseas? Fear not! We have done the hard work for you and uncovered 3 AWESOME operators that work hard to help support and protect wildlife while you explore.
Intrepid Travel
Intrepid took a stance over two years ago and began to phase out venues of concern and elephant rides. In January 2014, Intrepid decided to no longer offer elephant rides on any of their trips. Instead, they have started visiting a limited number of places where elephant welfare is clearly highly prioritised and the elephants are free to move without restraint for much of the day.
Geckos Adventures
Geckos Adventures discourage all travellers from participating in anything that exploits wild or domestic/working animals. Alongside their sister company Intrepid Travel, Geckos Adventures banned elephant rides from their trips in 2014. They have also joined forces with the Blood Lions crew to in combating harmful lion walks, cub petting or any other interactive activities that contribute to the cycle of breeding and exploitation of lions in Africa.
World Expeditions
World Expeditions advocate for wild animals to be kept in the wild and safe from unethical tourism. Joining forces with World Animal Protection, World Expeditions have carefully crafted four fantastic itineraries that offer some of the world’s best wildlife viewing opportunities. To top it off, the operator is donating a percentage of each trip to World Animal Protection to support their work to save animals! What more could you want?
These are just a few of many tour operators that see a great opportunity in changing their wildlife tourism practices. Check out World Animal Protection‘s extensive list of other awesome Aussie operators making a difference for animals worldwide!
